Women's Christian Hospital, Multan ![]() WCH is a very busy obstetric and gynaecological centre, with Paediatric care available for children born here. It is a 75 bed hospital which gives government recognised midwifery training to girls from the community. It is also recognised for postgraduate training of Doctors in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. Please note: the photos on this web site show very few people out of respect for local culture. It is not proper for photos of these women to appear in a public place. HistoryIn 1899 the only hospital in Multan was a government one, and it only served men. There were no trained midwives in the city. No "purdah" woman could have help in times of sickness except by sending a male relative or female servant with a description of her symptoms, and taking whatever medicine the doctor sent. more...
